January 2014 Precipitation Summary

While Seattle did get its first statistically significant rainfall event since September, it still experienced below-normal precipitation for the fourth-straight month. Seatac recorded 3.70 inches in December, 66% of the 30-year normal (5.57″). The majority of Western Washington, including most of Seattle, was closer to 50%.

 

The greatest 24-hour rainfall total of the month occurred on the 29th when 1.18 inches fell. There were 0 days with greater than an inch, 2 days with with greater than 0.50″, 8 days above 0.10″, and 13 above 0.01″. “Heavy rain” was not reported once, “rain” on 9 days, and “light rain” on 15 days.
