May We Have Another Wet Month?

Up to two inches of rain fell on parts of the City on Saturday and Sunday (see RainWatch image above). That’s a lot for May. Daily records were broken at Seatac each day (1.31″ and 0.49″). Despite the totals, preliminary data indicates that at no time or over no duration was any of the rainfall significantly intense.

 

Only five days in, Seattle’s already above normal for the month of May. Another inch of rain and we’ll enter the top 10, just as we have for the last three months. This weekend’s event also nudged Seattle above normal for the Water Year. We’ve been below normal since the second week of the season in October. (Though for the 2014 calendar year, we’re >150% normal.) We’re due for some dry weather soon…
